With over 25 years experience in the Private Security Industry, Hospitality, Health and Safety, First Aid and Pre-Hospital Care, I provide a wealth of experience to learners.
Starting out my career within catering and hospitality training as a chef, this progressed to private security and health and safety, This then led me to teaching in these subjects including first aid in 2015. Being a keen first aider, I soon trained as a First Responder to expand my first aid knowledge and volunteer as a Community First Responder for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
I continued my learning journey in Pre-Hospital Care and have recently qualified as an Emergency Ambulance Technician which has furthered my knowledge in Pre-Hospital Care and Medical Events.

Graham Freeman
Trainer, IQA and FREC4 Medic
Graham has a wealth of experience which he has gained from his military service and through his time working in the private security industry, as a team medic.
More recently Graham has worked as a First Responder on television and film productions and many sporting events.
In addition to this Graham also has an array of qualifications, which include an NVQ level 6 in occupational health and safety practice and is also qualified sports massage therapist. Graham is a valuable asset when dealing with medical emergencies, as he has the ability to apply a level headed and objective approach to any given situation.

Charles Cartwright
FREC3 Medic and Community First Responder
I have been a first aider in the forestry industry for 30 years.
I am also a Community First Responder on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire for West Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with Category 1 and 2 calls.
I am Qualified in many areas including: FREC3 / ASIST suicide prevention / Naloxone trained/Adult safeguarding trained / Conflict resolution trained
I have been luck enough to be involved in Safe Space from the start.
My best quality is my ability to stay calm in very stressful situations. I am passionate about pre-hospital care and Safe Space and deeply proud of the work we carry out and the differences we have made to people's lives.

Dan Watson
Student Paramedic
I joined the team in July 2024.
I first started working in healthcare in 2014 when I joined the Army as Combat Medical Technician. During this time I provided advanced trauma life support on exercises and operational tours around the world, including Afghanistan, Jamaica, and Oman.
I've now changed my focus to pre-hospital care in the civilian world, and I am currently studying to become a qualified Paramedic.
Working with Safe Space offers the opportunity to work within a local community providing medical and welfare support which is really rewarding.

I have been a first responder for RTN Medical and Safe Space since August 2024. I'm currently training to be a Paramedic in Birmingham.
I also have lots of experience working alongside adults with learning difficulties and the elderly, specifically those suffering with dementia.

Ian Symonds
FREC3 Medic and Community First Responder
With 14 years of experience as a Community First Responder, I have dedicated my career to providing essential support in emergencies. My commitment to public service intensified when I worked for three years with the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on high-dependency cases to alleviate the immense pressure on the NHS.
Since the inception of the Safe Space initiative, I have been working as a Safe Space Medic, contributing my skills to create a supportive environment for those in need.
I look forward to continuing to enhance community well-being in the role.

David Cooper
FREC3 Medic
I am a FREC 3 first responder and have served as a Prison Officer and Detention Officer for West Mercia Police.
When I am not working on Safe Space, I am working as an Ambulance Care Assistant as part of the High Dependency patient transport unit, working frequently with St. Richards Hospice.
I am also a First Responder including at major sporting events and concerts, from Aston Villa games to Foo Fighters Concerts, you can find me keeping visitors safe in a multitude of high pressure environments.
In the past, I have also been a Foster Carer and pride myself on my outgoing and helpful persona, understanding the importance of welfare in a medical setting.
